History of STAC

S. Thangapazham Agricultural College (STAC), Vasudevanallur was started  in the academic year 2015-16 and is functioning from 07.10.2015 with the sanctioned strength of 60 students to offer B.Sc. (Ag.) degree course. The College was started in accordance with the G.O. (MS) No.199/2015, dt: 28.09.2015 of Government of Tamil Nadu (Annexure 1) and was granted affiliation by the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU), Coimbatore vide TNAU Registrar’s Order No. E1 / Th.K.S.N / 21201 / 2015 dt. 29.09.2015 (Annexture 1). The College is run by the Thiru. K. Subramania Nadar – Vadivoo Ammal Educational Trust, Vasudevanallur.

The location of the College is at Chinthamaniperipudur, Authuvazhi (Post), Vasudevanallur, Sivagiri Taluk, Tenkasi District. The College lies between 9°14’22 North latitude and 77°24’40 East longitude with an altitude of 183 m in Southern Agro Climatic zone of Tamil Nadu. The College is situated on the Madurai – Kollam National Highway (NH 744) and is 1.5km away from Vasudevanallur Bus Stop. 

The Farm

This Institute has been established in an area of 117.85 acres with rich flora and fauna and has the largest extent of plantation crops (Citrus, Coconut and Mango) which is a  unique learning resource for the students of this collge.This campus has a fair size of Wet land, Garden land and Dry land for raising agricultural crops and separate extent of land for horticulture and agroforestry covering the ayacuts of Naranapuram (77.96 acres) and Thirumalapuram (39.89 acres) villages.

The main source of irrigation is tank fed  drawing water  from Thurkanda Rayaperi Tank which is fed by the Kalingalar river.
